• Tip of Australia (Most Northerly Point)

Going to the Tip of Australia is becoming easier as they continue to upgrade the Peninsula Developmental road. There are some sections along the way where the corrugations rattle your teeth out. Good idea to let your tyres down to about 20 psi just to make it a little smoother .Also be prepared for a fee to cross the Jardine River on the ferry. Take some cash, just in case Eftpos is down.

  • Old Telegraph Track

How good is this 4wd track. If you want a little more adventure when you travel up to the Tip then take the Tele Track. It’s in 2 sections and in our opinion the Northern section is the best. More water holes to swim in and more challenging 4wd sections.

TIP If your pressed for time bypass the Southern section and travel up to Elliot Falls & Fruit Bat Falls, have a swim then start the Northern section of the track.

  • Woodgate Beach

I love this beach and Seaside Town. It's not over crowded and there is so much to do. It has your basic stores , a pub and bowls club. Accomodation is 2 caravan parks, holiday houses and 3 bush camp grounds. Some sections of the beach you can drive your 4wd and have a picnic or fish on the beach. Plus there are 4wd tracks throughout the National Park to explore. Woodgate is surrounded by National Parks so the bush camps are not for pets. The caravan park is pet friendly. Situated 3 hours North of Brisbane and 40mins South of Bundaberg & 40 mins North Hervey Bay. A beautiful place to visit.

  • Blackdown Tablelands

It’s amazing what you find out in Central QLD. Blackwater has an amazing mountain range and in amongst this is the Blackdown Tablelands. If you follow the road up there is a camp ground with toilets and a dirt road that takes you to Rainbow Falls, stunning especially if it has just rained. You need to jump on the QLD NP app to book a site. Fires allowed when conditions are right but no pets allowed. Its about a 40 min walk down to the falls and 240 steps but its worth it. • Oma Water Hole

Camping on the banks of Oma Waterhole was the most relaxing week I’ve had in a long time, bliss.

Situated on the famous Barcoo River, this certainly is a place to kick back and relax. Approx 17km South-West of Isisford. You need to be self sufficient as there are no amenities. The wildlife and birds are in abundance. Pets are allowed but please be considerate to the wildlife and other campers.

Nice flat area to ride a push bike around or paddle a kayak or paddle board up the river.

The annual Isisford fishing Comp is in full swing in July. So if you are a keen fisherman or woman this is the place to go. If you prefer peace and quiet then stay clear in July.
